About

The eldest daughter of the Prophet ﷺ and Khadīja. Before Islam she married her maternal cousin Abū al-ʿĀṣ ibn al-Rabīʿ. He fought on the side of Quraysh at Badr and was taken captive; she sent for his ransom a necklace that had been Khadīja's, and the Prophet ﷺ, moved at the sight of it, asked the Companions to release him (Abū Dāwūd). She migrated to Madīna; Abū al-ʿĀṣ later accepted Islam and rejoined her. She died in 8 AH.
