About

The wet nurse who suckled the Prophet ﷺ in infancy. Makkan families sent their infants to the desert to be nursed, and Ḥalīma, of Banū Saʿd ibn Bakr, took him to her people. Tradition remembers blessing on her household in the years he stayed with them: her milk and her flocks gave more than before, and her weary mount outpaced the others. In later years she is reported to have come to him and been received with honor.

The name
