Mālik ibn al-Naḍrمَالِك
Also known as Malik ibn an-Nadr
About
Son of al-Naḍr and father of Fihr, a link in the Prophet's ﷺ line between Kināna and the man most genealogists identify as Quraysh. The sīrah records little of him beyond his place in the chain, but that place matters: the debate over where the name Quraysh begins turns on his father, al-Naḍr, and his son, Fihr, with Mālik standing between the two.
The name
Mālik means 'owner, possessor'; one of the commonest Arab names.
