About
Of Banū Umayya, a wealthy early Muslim who migrated to Abyssinia with his wife Ruqayya, the Prophet's ﷺ daughter. After her death he married her sister Umm Kulthūm, and so is called Dhū al-Nūrayn. He bought the well of Rūma for the Muslims and equipped the army of Tabūk; the pledge of al-Riḍwān was made on his behalf when he was sent to Makkah. He later led the Muslim community, had the Qurʼan copied as one standard text (Bukhārī), and was killed in his house in Madīna.
