About
Of Banū ʿAdī of Quraysh, a fierce opponent of Islam whose acceptance of it strengthened the Muslims in Makkah; tradition remembers that they first prayed openly at the Kaʿba after he believed. The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah had placed the truth on his tongue (Tirmidhī). His daughter Ḥafṣa married the Prophet ﷺ. He led the Muslim community after Abū Bakr and was assassinated while leading the prayer in Madīna.
