About
Daughter of Ḥuyayy ibn Akhṭab, chief of Banū al-Naḍīr, and a Mother of the Believers (33:6). Taken captive at Khaybar, she was freed by the Prophet ﷺ and married to him, her freedom being her dower (Bukhārī). Jewish by birth and, by tradition, of the line of Hārūn, she was once taunted over her origin; the Prophet ﷺ told her to answer that she was the daughter of a prophet, the niece of a prophet, and the wife of a prophet (Tirmidhī).
