About
Son of Kaʿb and father of Kilāb, in the Prophet's ﷺ line as the grandfather of Quṣayy. The genealogists make him the point where the Prophet's ﷺ ancestry and that of Abū Bakr part, Banū Taym descending from a son of Murra, while ʿUmar's clan, Banū ʿAdī, branches a generation higher at Kaʿb. Little else of his life is recorded beyond his place in the chain.
The name
Murra means 'bitter'; a common name among the pre-Islamic Arabs.
