About
Son of Ilyās ibn Muḍar and father of Khuzayma. His given name was ʿĀmir; Mudrika, 'the one who overtakes', is a byname. The genealogists tell that when a camel bolted from the family's herd, ʿĀmir ran it down and was called Mudrika from that day. He stands in the Prophet's ﷺ line between Muḍar and Kināna, and the genealogists count the tribes of Khuzayma and Hudhayl among his descendants.
The name
From adraka, 'to overtake, attain': 'the one who overtakes'; a byname for his given name ʿĀmir.
