About
Son of Fihr and father of Luʾayy, a link in the Prophet's ﷺ line in the first generation after Quraysh, as most genealogists name Fihr. The sīrah preserves little of his life beyond his name and his place in the chain: the genealogists record him as the son through whom Fihr's line continues to Luʾayy, Kaʿb and the later clans of Quraysh, among them Banū Hāshim.
The name
Ghālib means 'victor, the one who prevails'.
